TB Control Program
The Ben Franklin TB Control Program provides TB screening, education, outreach, direct care services, and guidance concerning active TB disease and Latent TB infection in Franklin County. Along with providing general guidance about TB protocols, the TB Program can evaluate patients who have tested positive on the Mantoux skin test and are referred to us by other health care providers.

  • Skin Tests - Guidance for Providers
Please provide us and/or the patient with the date the skin test was placed, by whom, the date it was read, and the reading in number of millimeters. If you have already done a chest x-ray, send a copy of the x-ray with the patient to help us with the assessment. We can also help with the case management of people being treated for Latent TB Infection (LTBI).
  • TB as a Reportable Disease
Cases of LTBI are not considered reportable to your local health department. Active TB is a Class A-2 reportable disease. Any positive lab result concerning TB, any suspect TB case, or a confirmed case of active TB needs to be reported to your local health department by the end of the next business day. You can contact us at 645-1823 to report a confirmed or suspect TB case by phone and/or fax us the information at (614) 645-0265. For more information, please call (614) 645-2199.
